King Tut continues to astound the archaeological community, as new research shows that the ancient Egyptian child pharaoh was buried with a dagger that originated in outer space.
The iron blade placed in his sarcophagus next to the right thigh of his mummified body was manufactured from a meteorite, according to researchers from Milan Polytechnic, Pisa University and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
The team carried out an analysis using non-invasive, portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometry and published their results in the journal Meteoritics and Planetary Science.
Archaeologist Howard Carter’s discovery of King Tut’s tomb in 1922 sparked worldwide fascination with the 14th Century BC pharaoh. Three years later, two blades – one iron and one gold – were found in the wrapping of the 18th Dynasty mummy.

6,000-year-old cremated remains discovered in megalithic tomb in Ireland

The dolmen tomb at Killaclohane in County Kerry

The remains of two apparently prominent people who were among some of the first farmers who settled in Southwest Ireland have been unearthed at a prehistoric stone dolmen monument in County Kerry. The remains date back around 6,000 years and were found in the megalithic tomb at Killaclohane.
The people buried in the tomb may have been prominent in their community said Dr. Michael Connolly, the county archaeologist, in an e-mail to Ancient Origins. DNA testing will be done on the cremated remains to try to determine how many people were buried in the dolmen. Their sex will be difficult or impossible to determine because they were cremated. Baltinglass Hill: Ireland’s Forgotten Gobekli Tepi?

Baltinglass Stones – connected to Turkey’s Gobkeli Tepe?

Resting high upon the hills of Wicklow lies buried one of the most remarkable Neolithic sites in all of Europe. Strangely, even today many people are unaware of its existence.
Baltinglass Hill is one of the world’s most important archaeological sites consisting of what many believe to be an ancient observatory, a ruined stone circle, and structures which up until recently were called ‘tombs’ but are now much more likely to be ceremonial sites aligning the earth to the stars.
There are also structures and huge rectangular pillar-type slabs protruding from the earth around the ruins, some containing carvings which cannot be seen properly because they are still buried. These unexamined stones stretch across and down through the fields and woods from Baltinglass and lead towards Boleycarrigeen Stone Circle. Read More..........
